Music Videos

This is the music video I made for my theme song “My Fire Opal”, from my debut album Mirrors for Princes. I used a lot of urban imagery to reflect the song’s noir theme.

I made these videos for two cover songs from the 2AM Sessions. I like them both, but I’m particularly fond of “Honey Don’t Think”. ^_^

AMVs

I developed my video editing skills making AMVs when I was younger, experimenting with different music genres. Inuyasha, Angel Sanctuary, Serial Experiments Lain are just a few of the series I set to music.

I stopped making them because youtube can be very fickle with music and anime rights, and you never know which AMV they’re going to strike down. One of my favorites, my Angel Beats AMV, is blocked on their site.

Sadly there seems to be no good place to share AMVs because of certain legal complexities. Regardless, I’m proud of what I made and I think they show my video editing skills very well.

Scarlet is possibly my favorite AMV, in terms of being the most badass. Inuyasha was a joy to work with. There’s so much material you can use, it can feel like you have nearly endless subject matter to work with. It has plenty of romance, fantasy, horror, comedy… even a bit of time travel!

I thought it was rather fitting that my AMV for Kagome and Kikyo went viral, as people are always arguing over which of them are better for Inuyasha. It’s the eternal debate which I’ll never get tired of, and I’m happy a lot of people enjoyed this AMV. The song’s bridge and the reincarnation themes hit me hard.

My AMV for Inuyasha and Sango was the first one I ever made. I’m especially happy about this one, because it’s a non-canon relationship I think I convincingly pulled off. I also really love the cuts using the fire.

I absolutely love the chemistry between Naraku and Kikyo – you don’t even have to know the story to feel the tension in those AMVs. I wanted to make more, but ultimately I didn’t want to spoil too much of the story.

Sesshomaru and Rin was another early one I’m surprised I managed to pull off so well. Sesshomaru’s character arc is a dramatic one and I think this music perfectly fits his rare display of vulnerability.

Sesshomaru and Kagura were a real challenge, and I ended up using a surprising amount of cuts in this one.

Welcome to the NHK was a weird anime in retrospect, but served for some wonderfully non-traditional AMVs. I’m particularly proud of the one with “Grace Cathedral Park” by Red House Painters. That one seems to resonate with everybody.

Lovely Complex, aka Love*Com, is one of my favorite series and this AMV was a joy to make.

Angel Sanctuary was a challenge because there are only three episodes to work with. I’m really proud of the cuts in this one.

Serial Experiments Lain was a tricky one to find appropriate music for, but I think this song matches the mystique of the anime well.

One of my AMVs actually sets the ending of Inuyasha to “Hollow Crown” by Architects. I won’t link it here since I don’t want people to impulsively spoil the ending of a great story. But if you’ve already seen the series, you can find it on my youtube page if you look through the AMV playlist.
